Properties: 
Colorless or light yellow transparent liquid, or white granular solid. Melting point 212℃ (decomposition). Relative density (20℃) 1.30-1.40. Soluble in water, ethanol, acetone, etc. Chemical propertie are stable, thermal stability is good, and it does not separate even when boiled with sulfuric acid. The decomposition temperature of the dry product is 200-212℃, and it is not easy to hydrolyze.
Application:

This product serves as an effective scale inhibitor for open circulating cooling water systems, boiler water, and applications such as circulating cold water, oil field water injection, and the water treatment of oil pipelines. Furthermore, it demonstrates excellent chelation and low-limit inhibition capabilities, effectively preventing scale-forming salts in water from depositing as hard scale. Specifically, it functions by forming soluble, polycyclic chelates with metal ions like calcium and magnesium, thereby dispersing them loosely in water. However, its inhibitory effect on calcium phosphate is less pronounced than that of ethylenediaminetetramethylenephosphonic acid.

Beyond its primary use, this compound is also a powerful metal cleaning agent for degreasing surfaces. Additionally, its versatility allows it to be employed as a detergent additive, a shielding agent for metal ions, a cyanide-free electroplating additive, and even as an extractant for precious metals.
