Properties:
Iodine is a non-metallic element that appears as violet-black crystals with a characteristic odor. It sublimes easily at room temperature, producing a violet vapor. It has limited solubility in water but is highly soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, chloroform, and carbon disulfide, forming brown solutions. Iodine is a moderate oxidizing agent and exhibits significant antiseptic properties.
Application:
Disinfectant & Antiseptic: Widely used in the production of tincture of iodine and other formulations for skin disinfection and wound treatment.
Pharmaceutical Intermediate: An essential raw material in the synthesis of various iodine-containing compounds and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
Chemical Synthesis: Serves as a catalyst or reactant in organic reactions, including iodination and the formation of carbon-iodine bonds.
Analytical Reagent: Used in chemical analysis and laboratory testing, such as in iodometric titrations for quantitative analysis.
Animal Feed Supplement: Added to animal feed as a nutritional supplement to prevent iodine deficiency.
Dye Industry: Employed in the production of certain dyes and pigments.
Package and Storage:
Packaging: 25 kg/drum, or as per customer requirements.
Storage Conditions:
Keep container tightly sealed.
Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place.
Protect from light, heat, and moisture.
