Properties
Sodium oleate is a white to pale yellow flaky or powdery solid, classified as an anionic surfactant and fatty acid salt. It is soluble in water and ethanol, forming colloidal solutions, but insoluble in non-polar solvents (e.g., hexane).
Exhibits excellent emulsifying, foaming, and dispersing properties. Stable under normal conditions but incompatible with strong acids (releases oleic acid) and oxidizing agents.
Applications
Mining & Mineral Processing
Widely used as a collector in froth flotation for oxides (e.g., hematite, fluorite) and silicates.
Effective in phosphate and tungsten ore beneficiation (pH 8–11).
Cosmetics & Soaps
Acts as an emulsifier and thickener in shampoos, shaving creams, and liquid soaps.
Metalworking
Serves as a lubricant in wire drawing and metal stamping.
Pharmaceuticals
Used as a tablet lubricant and in topical formulations.
Other Uses
Biodegradable detergent component.
Rubber and polymer additive (mold release agent).
Packaging & Storage
Standard Packaging: 25 kg/bag or customized
Store in a cool, dry, and ventilated area. Keep away from strong acids, oxidizers, and moisture. Tightly seal containers to prevent caking.
